planning
working with the council during the pre-application process, we proposed a typology that would work on scale when replicated with other residents on the estate. the goal was to demonstrate to the council that a cohesive approach will lead to a quality of architecture which enhances the 1970’s buildings.
having received positive feedback on the designs, the council were unable to move away from guidelines and instead recommended that any roof extension would need to keep any new massing to the “non-public” side of the site.
planning permission was approved for a low silhouette replacement roofshape which incorporated a new terrace, bedroom and ensuite.
technical design
technical designs to take the project to tender were produced. the new roof clad in zinc was designed with a glazed sliding roof hatch, allowing the silhouette be kept as low as possible.
a full building specification pack including bedroom, ensuite, and joinery has been put out to tender. the project is due to be build late 2025.
