2-bed backland development
concrete basement sub-level
timber frame
standing seam zinc
planning
planning was approved for a scheme designed with a lower ground floor, half basement, keeping the new building squat, reducing the impact and outlook on the neighbours.
technical design
designed as a simple system of natural elements working together, we were able to balance a timber framed house on top of a concrete base, underpinning the ground and neighbouring party walls.
by offsetting the upper volume daylight was able to penetrate into the lower level. a continious skylight runs the length of the house, with an internal courtyard providing outdoor space.
the building specification was developed and costed with a quantity surveyor ready for building, including technical designs for the tanking, drainage, retaining walls and concrete underpinning.
